Acupuncture & Herbal Medicine with Student Intern

Patients are treated with acupuncture and herbal medicine by a student intern supervised by SIEAM faculty. Treatments involve an interview, assessment, acupuncture, bodywork, cupping, gua sha, and herbal medicine as needed.


Bodywork with Student Intern

Patients are treated with Tuina by student interns under close supervision of SIEAM faculty. Tuina is Chinese medical massage, it is tailored to each patients presentation. Cupping and gua sha may be provided as needed.


Acupuncture & Herbal Medicine with SIEAM Faculty

Patients are treated by experienced SIEAM faculty, with students observing. Treatments include Chinese herbal medicine, cupping, gua sha, and moxa therapies as needed.


Acupuncture & Herbal Medicine with Doctoral Student Intern

Patients are treated with acupuncture and herbal medicine by a SIEAM Doctoral student intern. Treatments involve the following as needed: interview, assessment, acupuncture, bodywork, cupping, gua sha, and herbal medicine.


Acupuncture & Herbal Medicine with SIEAM Staff

Patients are treated with acupuncture and herbal medicine by a SIEAM Staff member. These are private treatments, involving an interview, assessment, acupuncture, bodywork, cupping, gua sha, and herbal medicine as needed.


In Person Herbal Consult

In person herbal consultations are appointments for Chinese herbal medicine. Sessions may also include nutrition, lifestyle and exercise recommendations. Consults are observed by SIEAM Master and Doctoral students. The price of herbs varies based on the formula and amount dispensed, herbs are an additional cost on top of the $25 consultation fee. Herbal consults with Craig Mitchell are Tuesdays from 9 am - 11 am. Please book a "new" visit if you are a new patient, and a "return patient" visit if you are a return patient.

SIEAM's specialty clinic focuses on providing patients with supportive care during and after cancer treatment. We also specialize in treating cancer survivors to help with late effects and to promote long-term wellness after cancer therapy. We see patients throughout the continuum of care and with all stages of cancer and types of cancer diagnosis. We will work collaboratively with your medical team, as needed, to provide you with a comprehensive treatment plan.

As part of SIEAM's Doctor of Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine program, 4th year students observe, assist and treat patients alongside SIEAM faculty with extensive experience working with cancer patients in both hospital and private practice settings.

My training in Taiwan as apprentice under Dr Lee Chen-yr for 15 years and in the oncology department at the Tri-Services Military Hospital provided excellent experience in treating chronic, difficult and complex cases. Jean (Yuchun) Lai, D.A.O.M., L.Ac.

Jean Lai received her Doctor of Medicine (TCM) from China Medical University (Taiwan) in 2006, as well as a Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine degree from Five Branches University (California) in 2020. Jean worked initially as a doctor in Taichung, Taiwan and in 2010 she moved to Taipei, where she ran her own clinic and provided instruction for students and interns from China Medical University. Jean also spent many years studying outside of the academic system in the Zhong Jing lineage of Shang Han Lun Medical Classics, and her clinical approach is based on this training. Her focus is primarily on internal medicine, gynecology, infertility, and pediatrics. Jean moved to Seattle in 2023. She is passionate about pulse diagnosis, herbal formula prescription, and meditation with friends.

Dalton L.Ac., began her academic career at University of Redlands in California in 2012, where she studied political science and conflict resolution. She graduated from the Seattle Institute of East Asian Medicine (SIEAM), with a Master’s degree in 2021. She practices Engaging Vitality, and trigger point therapy predominantly, and enjoys treating and learning about the cranial sutures. Craig Mitchell, Ph.D. (China), E.A.M.P., received a Master of Science degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine from the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in San Francisco (1993). Craig completed his PhD from the China Academy of TCM (Beijing) in 2006. He has written numerous articles and translated several Chinese medical texts, including On Cold Damage: Translation and Commentaries. At SIEAM he is a clinical supervisor and teaches classes on herbal medicine and medical Chinese. Craig is currently the president of SIEAM.

Allen Sayigh, M.Ac.O.M., L.Ac., graduated from the Seattle Institute of East Asian Medicine in 1999. A fascination with herbs threw him into the field of East Asian Medicine, he began managing the school’s herbal dispensary while a student at SIEAM. Katherine Taromina, D.A.C.M., MS, L.Ac., graduated from the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (NY) in 1998. Prior to joining SIEAM, Kathy served first as an acupuncturist, then as the Program Manager for the Integrative Therapies Program at Columbia University Medical Center. Kathy also currently serves as an Oncology Acupuncturist for the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. She is an instructor and practitioner of Zang Fu Tui Na, a method of regulating the function of the internal organs (Zang Fu) through direct and indirect energetic visceral mobilization techniques, developed by Tom Bisio, Internal Arts International (IAI). Kathy is the Academic Dean and Clinic Director at SIEAM.
